Welcome to 7th Grade English!
Our class is focused on reading and writing based on the Common Core Standards. In the seventh grade we write memoirs, argumentative essays, literary essays, and a research paper. During our reading units, students are encouraged to choose novels that interest them and are appropriate for their abilities. Please see the Books, Books, Books tab for some recommended titles.
Daily Work: Homework is not regular, but one thing I want to expect my students to do is read! Students are required to read at least 2 hours every week. Students will complete reading logs in class every day and turn them in every Tuesday. Students may read any kind of book they want to. My goal is to help students find books they enjoy and develop a life-long love of reading. I work closely with Mrs. Dobrez, our librarian, to help students find books that interest them. Students who read regularly tend to write better and perform well in their other classes.
